Remember: everything Link (Twilight Princess) says is made up.

The rain was pouring in sheets outside of your home, to the point where small animals like squirrels were starting to float down the street on sticks; that's about the most exciting thing today. Some people still insisted on peddling their wares while in their shops or protected by umbrellas, for some absurd reason. Link had found a house with eaves large enough to hide from the rain under and quickly rushed to shield from the rain, squeezing the water out of his hat with a soft sigh as he watched the rain. Frankly, he was astonished by the sheer amount of water! Link had been planning on visiting the market on the south road in hope someone was finally manning the flower stand, or a sale on that ever-ridiculously priced bread.. but the rain pouring surely meant the market stands were closed! A soft sigh came from the Hylian as he watched a frog float past on a particularly large flower from a nearby tree.
