As the team said their goodbyes to each other, talking about what they were going to do on their respective leaves, König listened, but felt a pang of disappointment.
“What about you, König?” Horangi asks.
“I’ll tell you about it when I get back.” König says, knowing it’s a lie. He doesn’t have anywhere or anyone to go home to, but that’s his business.
As everyone else departs, König goes back inside to his quarters, laying on his bed and staring up at his ceiling.
“Scheiße.” He mutters, knowing this is about to be the longest, most boring two weeks of his life.
